Explanation of the reasons for the revelation of the verses Surah Fathir: 29-30:

Ibn Kathir’s commentary states that these verses are categorized as Ayatul Qurro, which means they are the verses for the lovers of the Quran. Loving the Quran is not just about affection, but it involves reading, studying, contemplating, practicing, and even teaching it.

Ibn Abbas narrated a hadith from Abdul Ghani bin Sa’id ats-Tsaqafi that the revelation of Surah Fathir: 29 was related to Hushain bin al-Harits bin ‘Abdil Muththalib bin’ Abdi Manaf al-Quraisy.

Al-Baihaqi and Ibn Abi Hatim narrated from Nafi’ bin al-Harits, sourced from Abdullah bin Abi Aufa, that a man asked the Prophet (pbuh), “O Messenger of Allah, sleep is a pleasure granted by Allah in this world. Will we be able to sleep in paradise?” The Prophet replied, “No, because sleep is the twin brother of death, and in paradise, there is no death.” Then he asked again, “How do they rest in paradise?” This question touched the feelings of the Prophet, and he said, “There is no fatigue in paradise, everything is full of joy and comfort.” This verse (Surah Fathir: 35) was revealed as a confirmation of the Prophet’s statement. This verse emphasizes the characteristics of those whose deeds are accepted by Allah, as Allah says:

“[It is] He who has made us settle in the permanent home of His bounty. Therein we will not be touched by fatigue nor will we be touched by weariness.” (Surah Fathir: 35)
