Surah Al-Fath
Surah Al-Fath consists of 29 verses, including among the Madinan surahs, revealed after Surah Al-Jumu’ah. It is named Al-Fath (the victory) taken from the word Fat-han found in the first verse of this surah. Most of the verses of this surah explain matters related to the victories achieved by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his battles.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was extremely delighted with the revelation of the first verse of this surah. His joy was expressed in his saying, as narrated by Bukhari: “Indeed, a surah has been revealed to me, which I truly love more than everything illuminated by the sun.” The joy of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was due to the fact that the verses explained the victories that Muhammad (peace be upon him) would achieve in his struggle and the perfection of Allah’s blessings upon him.

Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those with him are firm with the disbelievers and compassionate with one another. You see them bowing and prostrating ˹in prayer˺, seeking Allah’s bounty and pleasure. The sign ˹of brightness can be seen˺ on their faces from the trace of prostrating ˹in prayer˺. This is their description in the Torah. And their parable in the Gospel is that of a seed that sprouts its ˹tiny˺ branches, making it strong. Then it becomes thick, standing firmly on its stem, to the delight of the planters—in this way Allah makes the believers a source of dismay for the disbelievers. To those of them who believe and do good, Allah has promised forgiveness and a great reward.
